CNES is strongly committed to help develop applications based on space Earth Observation data, and is creating the “Earth observation application lab” with this objective.
CNES is also leading the development of the “Space Climate Observatory”, which aims at sharing space data for climate studies, and help access and use these data, in the frame of a wide international cooperation.
In both cases, we need to ingest large amounts of space products (like Pleiades HR, SPOT, Sentinel, …) as raw material, and develop tools to access these data and deliver advanced products. These applications could be based on existing algorithms (in OrfeoToolbox for example), and the use of huge databases allowing learning.
To do that, we are looking for a Computer Science Engineer who will have the responsibility to design and implement algorithms in order to implement “use cases” to be defined according to users needs. He/she will work in close collaboration with experts in various thematic fields, such as space imagery, 3D cartography, climatology, etc …
MS or PhD Degree in computer science or related discipline
Solid software engineering skills (Python, Tensorflow, Gdal)
Excellent debugging and optimization skills
Experience in QGIS
Experience in the analysis of large amounts of data in a cloud environment
Experience in photogrammetry
Knowledge of space imagery.
